CHRONICLES OF A PERFECT GENOCIDE

CHRONICLES OF A PERFECT GENOCIDE

by FRANCO JURI

Even when he strikes the Israeli army by mistake, he does so with painstaking precision. Error does not miss the target, artificial intelligence takes care of hitting it. The targets to be hit have long been in the algorithms of Aman, HaTam and the IDF, the hard core of military intelligence and special units with the Star of David that have put and are putting the Gaza Strip to the sword. And what it means to lose nine of one’s ten children in a few fatal seconds, Alaa al-Najjar, the pediatrician at the Nasser hospital in Khan Yunis in the south of the strip, who survived because outside the home she was saving other lives of Palestinian children, knows desperately. One of the many massacres that have been ruthlessly perpetrated on a daily basis in Gaza for almost two years under the pretext of waging war on Hamas. Netanyahu’s government, with megaphones and torches in the hands of ferocious racist ministers such as Itamar Ben-Gvir or Bezamel Smotrich, and backed by the Trump administration, now does not even conceal its true intentions; expelling the Palestinians from Palestine, or exterminating them, in order to fully realize the Zionist dream of a greater Israel. And if you can’t do it with the good ones, you do it with the bad ones, even with genocide, protected by the many walls that fragment Palestine and by the great wall of silence of the “free world”. All that was needed was a casus belli, and Hamas gave it to them on October 7, 2023 with the massacre of twelve hundred Israelis – some of whom fell into chaos even under the barrage of friendly helicopters – and the kidnapping of 250 hostages. From then on, an unprecedented carnage, a systematic massacre of Palestinians; not only of Hamas militiamen and their potential supporters, but, indiscriminately, of civilians, children, women, the elderly, journalists, humanitarian and health workers, doctors… Even some foreign diplomats have experienced the thrill of the human target. A city razed to the ground, ghostly, full of living dead in search of food, water, a precarious shelter, whose images are spread by many media and reliable testimonies, allowing the world, all of us, to witness the genocide live. And it is not artificial intelligence, it is an analog war that Israel is waging with the systematic destruction, hunger, thirst and intermittent blockade of humanitarian aid, which Washington, sniffing out the business, wants private and American. Even outlawing the UN.

Yet the uneven European Union does not move, either when it does, quietly expressing concern with phrases, warnings and appeals “not to exaggerate”, here and there even with a few jokes of indignation, or – as in the case of Orban – with appreciation and invitations to the executioner premier, it does so in such a way as not to worry and not to affect the operational and genocidal capabilities of Netanyahu known as Bibi. This continues undisturbed to massacre, as well as with friendly American weapons, also with European ones, German in the first place. Israel also continues to sing at Eurovision and almost win the golden uvula with its algorithms. And she continues undisturbed to pedal at the Giro d’Italia starting in Albania. For two years now, European statesmen have been turning a deaf ear even to the warnings and appeals of many democratic and pacifist Jews around the world who protest, show solidarity with the Palestinian population and openly call Bibi the executioner. No serious proposals for sanctions have so far been put forward by EU leaders against Israel. A far cry from the 17 packages and thousands of sanctions imposed on the Russian Federation after the aggression against Ukraine.

A few individual sanctions aimed at a couple of ministers and anonymous violent Israeli settlers occupying the West Bank, or the hypothesis of freezing the association agreement between Israel and the EU that came into force in 2000, appear, compared to what is happening on the south-eastern shore of the Mediterranean, as a cynical mockery of human dignity and ethics. The European countries that a year ago recognized Palestine and that are most politically committed to the two-state solution that stops the genocide in progress – Spain, Belgium, Ireland, Norway and Slovenia – accused by Israel, as UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has already been of “anti-Semitism”, continue to find themselves in the minority. Anti-Semitism? Which one? Nearly 60,000 Palestinian Semites have been slaughtered by Israel in Gaza and the West Bank in less than two years. The complicit ambiguity that oscillates between the fatuous rhetoric that pronounces the word peace stammering and the sense of impotence and guilt that pervades certain Europeans who are the children of authors and accomplices of the Holocaust, was laid bare recently in the European Parliament, and for the first time by a state president, that of Slovenia. Nataša Pirc Musar, bravely stepping out of the lines of the packaged speech, did not mince words: “we are watching a genocide and we continue to be silent”. The left half of the parliament applauded on their feet, the other half continued to be silent, grunt or curse the Slovenian stateswoman. Later, the same president again went outside the lines of European taboos even on the war in Ukraine, advancing the hypothesis of restoring communication with Russia, entrusted not to the militant and militarist Kaia Kallas, but to a group of wise men capable of communicating even with the devil himself, with Putin.

From Slovenia, Pirc Musar has mentioned the names of former presidents Milan Kučan and Danilo Türk. But you know, presidents can express moral and political judgments, or make some proposals, but those who implement them or not are the executive powers, and these willingly and pragmatically stall despite the declared harmony between Spain and Slovenia in requesting greater European pressure on Israel.

Yet the International Criminal Court (ICC) has already convicted Benjamin Netanyahu and Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant of crimes against humanity and war crimes, issuing an international arrest warrant without the EU’s double standards. But Bibi then visited an EU member country that is a signatory to the ICC, Hungary, and even the new chancellor Merz expressed his intention to receive him in Germany, in defiance of the verdict of the criminal court. But then, for political expediency, he hid his hand. From Slovenia, on the other hand, openly supporting Netanyahu and his work is opposition leader Janez Janša, who flew, together with his friend and Bosnian Serb president Milorad Dodik, to Jerusalem to lend a hand to the Israeli extreme right and support the genocide in Gaza. Also denying this, criticizing President Pirc Musar’s intervention on Gaza in the European Parliament, was Anže Logar, former foreign minister in the last right-wing government and leader of the “Democratic Party”, a sweetened variant born from a rib of Janša’s Slovenian Democratic Party (SDS). A creature close to the “diplomatic” positions of Meloni and Tajani, a Wolves of Slovenian moderates.

At the International Court of Justice (ICJ), a judicial body of the United Nations, often ignored and humiliated by authoritarian and sovereignist leaders, the judgment is underway on the petition against Israel filed on December 29, 2023 by South Africa with the aim of preventing or stopping the genocide in Gaza. No EU member country has offered direct support for the South African lawsuit.

Donald Trump, repeating the public pillory show already carefully staged with Zelensky in the Oval Office, also let South African President Ciryl Ramaphosa enter – who recklessly came to America in the illusory search for technological and commercial cooperation with the United States – but only to humiliate him publicly, vehemently denouncing it and with little lexicon, under the gaze of a satisfied and pleased child of Elon Musk, alleged »racist« abuses of the Black South African authorities against farmers White. Ramaphosa, accompanied by a delegation in which three ministers were white, did not budge, admitting the frequent episodes of crime and violence in his country against blacks and whites, and politely avoiding reproaching Trump with his notoriously racist supporters, many of whom are affiliated with the Ku Klux Klan.

And in the meantime, the wars, those with weapons, those of propaganda, the hybrid ones and those of tariffs, continue, the negotiations as well, but without the hoped-for results for now. Putin does not give in, Zelensky and the EU do not give in; Friedrich Merz’s Germany will (re)arm itself and, challenging Moscow head-on, arm Ukraine with long-range missiles.

Almost all of the “big themes” attended the funeral ceremony of Pope Francis, the pope who invoked the white and rainbow flags of peace, and the inauguration of the new pope, Leo XIV who, like Francis, speaks of peace, solidarity, sustainability and disarmament. And everyone pretended to listen to him and understand him again.
